Official Gmat 11, 12

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

This book is loaded with over 1,400 official GMAT questions that actually appeared on past GMAT's, about 400 more than the 9th edition. Almost all of the questions that are in the 9th edition are also in the 10th edition, but a few have been taken out.

The book is divided into ten chapters:

Chapter 1: A overall, general description of the test.
Chapter 2: How to answer GMAT questions on the computer.
Chapter 3: A general review of math. Includes arithmetic, algebra, geometry, and word problems.

The next five chapters all follow the same format: Brief strategies for answering each type of question, actual questions, then the answers and explanations for these questions. Another minor difference between the 9th and 10th editions is that the 10th edition does not have all the answers on one or two pages; all the answers are contained in the explanations.

Chapter 4: 441 math questions, with basic strategies and explanations of each question
Chapter 5: 274 data sufficiency questions, with basic strategies and explanations of each question
Chapter 6: 285 reading comprehension questions, with basic strategies and explanations of each question
Chapter 7: 205 critical reasoning questions, including one example of a new type of question, the "boldface Critical Reasoning " questions (question # 205, page 557), with basic strategies and explanations of each question
Chapter 8: 268 sentence correction questions, with basic strategies and explanations of each question
Chapter 9: A list of all the essay topics that will appear on your GMAT, with six samples of the essays, three samples for each type of essay. There are three samples of the Analysis of an Issue essay, with scores of 6 (the highest score), 4, and 2 and three samples of the Analysis of an Argument essay, also with scores of 6 (the highest score), 4, and 2.
Chapter 10: Information about scores, scaled scores, percentiles, etc.
